Ingredient Information

Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM): Powerful anti-oxidant known for its ability to help horses with stiffness, flexibility and discomfort associated with exercise and normal daily activity. This natural anti‐inflammatory has been found to decrease swelling and joint pain, and protect against the negative effects of exercise and stress.

A naturally occurring bioavailable form of sulfur, MSM plays a critical role in the formation and maintenance of healthy joints, a strong immune system, resilient skin, coat, and hooves.

As well, MSM/Sulfer is an ingredient of glucosamine and collagen which are necessary to maintain healthy cartilage, tendons, ligaments and connective tissues, vital to overall joint health.

MSM is used to relieve joint pain in heavily worked, aging and performance horses; and is known to have restorative properties and may benefit horses healing from injury or suffering from arthritis.

Horses that are deficient in sulfur may experience inflammatory issues such as slow recovery from exercise, hoof problems or joint pain.

Side Benefit: Vitamin C and MSM can support a healthy respiratory tract. Horses that have allergies to dust, pollen or molds might breathe easier with MSM and avoid bouts of heaves.

Glucosamine: Essential molecular component found in all connective tissue, and one of the most fundamental joint health ingredients, playing a significant role in both development of the joint matrix and protection of joints.

Research has shown Glucosamine helps prevent cartilage break down, supports the - repair and growth - of new cartilage, aids in the synthesis of synovial fluid, and supports healthy inflammatory response.

Given that Glucosamine is a building block of Chondroitin Sulfate, and chondroitin sulfate a building block of Hyaluronic Acid ... Glucosamine is absolutely key for maintaining joint structural integrity, flexibility, comfort and mobility during the wear and tear of training, competition or normal daily activity.

Chondroitin Sulfate: Found naturally in the body, and a core structural component of cartilage, bone, and connective tissues.

Chondroitin’s key function is to support the production of new cartilage, and inhibit cartilage break-down by controlling enzymes associated with inflammation and tissue degeneration. Another significant function is Chondroitin Sulfate’s role as a building block of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) used for synovial fluid production.

Chondroitin sulfate is bioavailable in the horse, and research has shown superior synergistic results when combined with Glucosamine in the maintenance of optimal joint performance.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA): Vital component of joint cartilage, Hyaluronic Acid nourishes and maintains joint synovial fluid that is circulating throughout the joint connective matrix, providing both structural lubrication and shock absorption protection between joint surfaces.

HA is found naturally in your horse’s joint synovial fluid, and under normal conditions, the synovial membranes produce enough hyaluronic acid to lubricate and protect the joint. However, with age and repeated wear from exercise, synovial fluid gets depleted. Loss of lubrication leads to inflammation, and the slow disintegration of support that cushions the joint. In turn, pain, stiffness, lameness.

The combined effect of a joint formula that includes all three: Hyaluronic Acid, Glucosamine and Chondroitin is far greater and more beneficial than using each nutrient individually.

Vitamin E: Potent anti-oxidant for healthy inflammatory response, protects cells by neutralizing damaging free radicals. Vitamin E helps support a strong immune system and healthy muscular, nervous, and circulatory systems.

Research suggests that horses can quickly get deficient in Vitamin E when engage in moderate to high amounts of physical activity.

Manganese: Important and essential nutrient for the growth of healthy connective tissue. In addition, Manganese is required for the synthesis of chondroitin sulfate, necessary for cartilage formation and regeneration.

Vitamin C: Potent antioxidant that helps support the immune system, protecting cells and neutralizing harmful free radicals. As a co-factor in the formation of Collagen, Vitamin C is vital to the production of connective tissues, including cartilage, tendons and ligaments; as well as helping maintain healthy teeth, bones, skin and blood vessels.

Vitamin C works alongside Vitamin E and MSM may help combat ‘heaves’. Horses may develop a increased need for Vitamin C during stress, illness and aging.
